Pelvic Organ Prolapse POP

Anatomical Considerations:

which factors contribute most to POP
- a weakening of the floor that supports the organs?
- weakening/stretching of suspensory ligaments?
- additional weight and volume applying pressure from above?

Pelvic Floor retraining focuses heavily on strengthening the underlying muscles.
However, if these are strengthened without consideration of additional pressure from above (abdominal adiposity and excessive GIT contents) and stretched ligaments within the peritoneum, then these exercises will have limited impact.

For a better outcome, it is logical that excessive weight from above be lost, and attention be given to optimizing support from all ligaments supporting organs against downward displacement.
